During the Institute, we’ll be staying at the Sunley Centre on the University of Northampton Park campus. Sunley offers breakfast every morning, wifi, and en suite bathrooms. Rooms are fairly basic but comfortable; think dormitory, not 4 star hotel. The University has a student center which includes a cafeteria; there’s also a 7-11 type shop near Sunley where you can buy any basic toiletries that you may have forgotten to pack. The university apparently has a laundry facility somewhere but we’re not sure where yet; it is likely coin operated. Sunley may also have a laundry service.
It is possible to stay at Sunley before and after the Institute; if you’re interested in this you’ll want to contact Dr. Brian Canfield directly to make those arrangements. It looks like towards the end of the institute, there may be a wedding or some other event going on and there were not that many rooms left. So you’ll want to contact him soon if you want to do this. Room rates for Sunley are pretty competitive with other area hotels.
You can use websites listed on the London Accommodations page to search Northampton. Be aware that these will search all of Northamptonshire, which includes places that could be some distance from the Institute. Here’s a couple we found specific to Northampton:
Hillview Guest House, located near city centre. Very cute accommodation near the park.
And if you want to get your Zen on, here’s the Nagarjuna Kadampa Buddhist Meditation Centre in Kelmarsh, about 15 minutes away from Northampton. Open daily for visits, has a vegetarian cafe, and you can stay there as well.
